Brotherly Love & Orcas
The past few days I have been on vacation. As a graduation present, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to Seattle. Since I was a young child, I have always had an affinity for Seattle. While the initial trip did not begin well, it turned into something both beautiful and enlightening.
My initial flight was canceled and the airline changed from Delta to American Airlines (the beginning of the end). American not only downgraded the seats from my initial flight, but delayed the flight by almost 2 hours. I missed the connecting flight but my friend and I were given meal and hotel vouchers.
Philadelphia, while not our final destination, did have a lot to offer. The downtown area was bustling with both tourists and natives. There was plenty to do and the architecture was beautiful. While we did experience a lot while in Philly, we turned in early as our flight was early the next day.
After finally not having any delays or cancellations, we were on our way to Seattle. After the 6 hour flight, we landed. As we exited the flight and terminal, I was greeted by a gentle Seattle breeze. It was rainy (as expected) but cool, around 60ish degrees. We got on the light rail and were able to see much of the beautiful city, from the industrial and international districts, the various stadiums, to the lush forests and mountainous area.
My favorite thing about Seattle was not only the weather, but also the food. There is such a diverse group of people who live in Seattle and you can find almost any type of food. The public transportation was also amazing, I would say it was on par, if not better, than New York. While in the city, we visited the University of Washington, MoPOP (Museum of Pop Culture), Space Needle, and took a tour of the city’s underground.
Overall, the trip was amazing. I feel very content that I was able to have one of my longest wishes come true. I would highly recommend visiting both Seattle and Philadelphia. Even this blog post is not enough to do the two cities justice.
